Reviews for this release

Moving the GUI to a website version was a very bad decision in my opinion. Most professionals love AutoSPInstaller, because it makes an offline installation much more comfortable and you are taking the GUI into the internet? I don't see where this makes sence. Besides that, don't you think professionals might have a problem with entering whole confiugrations including user accounts and passwords into a web form? My customers would get totally insane if I would do something like this. Nobody knows how you process or in worst case even store the data, that is entered into the web form.

Great application with high value PRIOR to the web only release. Please reconsider that change, and go back. Prior version ensured that the GUI version and the configuration file matched - so that rebuild of that exact farm later can be done. Updates to the software are not backwards compatible with prior configuration files and configuration files are not 'upgradable' to newer releases. HUGH security concerns with processing credentials via web client. Also web version is buggy - several attempts to use did not work.

I loved the GUI, it was great. The idea of a web page gui to create your config files is ok. But for building a production corporate SharePoint environment, in most cases, it just isn't appropriate for me to enter the details in a web page. It would be great if at least the version check could be removed so we can at least use the GUI to create config files.

Guys really i like your work, thank you for all the effort . The only feedback i have is the minute you switched to the web my clients are not signing off on using the tool, they are not happy to expose the farm information to the site even with all the assurances. is there any chance that the desktop application is coming back ?

Terrible. I uploaded my XML to scan through to catch anything I missed and it refused to let me review and download. No errors, just wouldn't let me. Lost all changes...which makes this online app utterly useless and unreliable. Please bring back the local app version.

Hi, As a fellow IT person, you should realize that this type of comment is not very constructive. Please provide steps (or xml) to reproduce this issue and I will resolve the issue promptly. Another user has reported this issue with the "Update Claims To Windows Service Account" option, I have resolved this today. The old GUI is still downloadable on this site. Thank you, Ivan

A brilliant tool that has proven invaluable. I can understand the move online with more emphasis on cloud etc. but I do majority of my installs in secure offline environments with no internet access so the ability to tweak the config during install will disappear :(

Hi, Thank you for your feedback, I plan to keep supporting the old GUI. The download link is still available. However, no new features will be added to it. Ivan

The switch the webpage instead of a stand-alone desktop app I don't think was a prudent move. I have not been able to use the webpage to configure and download a server install in any major browser. As soon as more than a few items are configured, the site stops providing the XML for me to use, rendering the tool useless. By removing the old app entirely, this has stranded me. EDIT per request: It appears there were errors in my configuration that the desktop tool pointed out (such as having no webapps at all) that the online tool did not, and thus would not produce any XML at all and not telling me why

I have re-added the download link back for the old GUI. Could you please provide steps to reproduce the issues you experienced. Update: I have added the WebApp and Site Collection minimum checks. Thank you, Ivan

I cannot use the online tool. "Please disable AdBlock" keeps pooping up, although I disabled it and paused it. Blocking the users from using your site would only alienate them. Asking nicely to disable Add-on would be better, and even adding a donation link, which I am sure many of your users would happily donate (including myself). Your effort with this tool is really appreciated, but for now, at least myself, will keep using the offline version until the issues are resolved.

Very Useful, not only for simplifying the complex xml file for use with the AutoSPInstaller but also as part of a documentation / disaster recovery package for multiple environments. Also a big thank you to everyone who submits their efforts into codeplex.com where your hard work is greatly appreciated

The latest version is working great! This is really a very useful tool for making the auto install scripts much easier to configure - essential for standardizing your farm servers! Also, Ivan is very responsive on this project - I sent him a discussion item early Monday afternoon, he replied quickly, and resolved the issue with the ToolTips display within a day!

Looks good and very useful. However there's apparently a bug on version 00012: The Tooltips are OK all the time you stay on the initial tab 'Install' but doesn't appear anymore when you switch from the Install tab to another like 'Farm' or 'WebApplications' or any other tab. Later on if you come back to 'Install' the Tooltips do not reappear anymore.

Amazing version. version 0.0.0.8 and 0.0.0.11 work perfectly with AutoSPInstaller Input XML version 3.2. It reduced the generation time for Input XML to almost 20 minutes. Version 3.2 works well with AutoSPInstaller up to http://autospinstaller.codeplex.com/SourceControl/changeset/96612

It quite usable, saves you on making errors while configuring autospinstaller. It goes in the right direction. I give it 4 stars and see how it improves.
